JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. --
With the summer move season among us, many new faces, experiences and renewed direction come to the 11th Wing.
Col. Brad Hoagland, the newest 11th Wing and installation commander, has held multiple command positions since 1994 with his most recent as the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing's vice commander in Southwest Asia.
"I have the appreciation for what the wing needs to do to organize, train and equip Airmen to deploy in support of our worldwide mission," Hoagland said. "To fly, fight and win our nation's wars."
The 11th Wing provides security for the world's most visible flight line and is responsible for ceremonial support with the Air Force Band, Honor Guard and Air Force Arlington Chaplaincy. JBA supports two higher headquarters, six wings, more than 80 tenant organizations and 40,000 Airmen and families around the world.
These missions are no easy task, but Hoagland said his drive, dedication and motivation for success comes from his father's upbringing.
"The most influential person to me is my father. He served during World War II; he was a coach, mentor and father," Hoagland said. "He taught me about competition, teamwork, loyalty, dedication, unity and strong family values."
These values instilled by his father have left a lasting impression on Hoagland.
"It's been 26 years since I lost my father, but he's still my motivation, my internal flame," Hoagland said. "I work and strive to live the life he led, to have the impact on those around me like he did."
Hoagland, father of four children, has been married for over 21 years and brings his strong family values to the wing by looking out for other Airmen.
"I think the most important thing for frontline supervisors is to engage Airmen and establish a trusting, compassionate and strong relationship," Hoagland said. "Being part of a large family, successful and winning teams, and having a positive attitude is what I feel is vitally important. We are all on the same team, Team Andrews."
