The National Capital Region Air Force softball team won their first two games during the preliminary round of the Armed Services Classic tournament at Ryan Zimmerman Field in Washington, D.C., June 2, 2018. They beat team Army 16-15 and team Coast Guard 25-10 to vault into first place after the opening day. The second day of the tournament was postponed to a later date in June due to weather. The Armed Services Classic is an inaugural tournament with teams from all five military branches battling for the championship scheduled for July 13 at Nationals Park as part of MLB's All-Star Week.
