JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. ,
In appreciation of the military, the Baltimore Ravens hosted an exclusive practice dedicated to service members, veterans and their families at their training camp facility in Owings Mills, Md., July 30, 2018.
Approximately 1,000 military attendees from throughout the National Capital Region filled the stands to watch as Ravens players and coaches ran a variety of drills and scrimmages.
This year marked the Ravens’ 11th annual military appreciation day, an event head coach John Harbaugh instituted during his first season with the team in 2008. Since its establishment, over 9,000 service members have enjoyed preferred seating and opportunities to meet with players and coaches each summer.
“This experience means a lot to me personally,” said Staff Sgt. Jason Flores, 201st Airlift Squadron maintenance technician, D.C. Air National Guard. “Today has given me a chance to spend time with my family while enjoying the great festivities. The players went out of their way to interact with my kids and really make their experience unforgettable.”
Guests received a special edition Ravens camouflage hat after arriving and attended an autograph session with players immediately following the practice.
Marine Corps Master Sgt. Jeffery Moore, Defense Information Systems Agency spectrum management senior enlisted advisor, appreciated the Ravens’ effort to connect with the local military community.
“The Ravens are a class act for putting on an event like this,” Moore said. “Spending time with my family is the one thing I value most. Being able to come out and share this experience with them is something that I won’t ever take for granted.”
