Chapel 1 hosted their annual Holiday Extravaganza here Dec. 2, 2021. The event kicked off with holiday music played by the Ceremonial Brass Quintet, one of six musical ensembles that form The U.S. Air Force Band, and an introduction from Col. Roy Oberhaus, 316th Wing vice commander, and the event coordinators.
After introductions, the Christmas tree and Hanukkah Menorah were lit to symbolize the start of the holiday season for JBA. More than 200 attendees watched the lights brighten the sky.
“Lights are a symbol that darkness does not last,” said Capt. Sean Knox, JBA Chaplain and event coordinator. “ Let the lights we kindle tonight serve as a reminder that there is hope in this darkness and that the darkness will not last.”
After the lighting, many members of the JBA community took part in the various activities the extravaganza provided such as a meet-and-greet with Santa, ice skating, food and a fireworks show.
