Personal property movement tips for PCS season

11th Logistics Readiness Squadron

With the arrival of the spring and summer months, many of us in the National Capital Region are starting to pack up our homes and prepare for a permanent change of station.

Here are some tips from the Joint Base Andrews travel management office to make sure your move goes as smoothly and effectively as possible.

When initiating a move and before visiting TMO, go online to www.move.mil and register in the Defense Personal Property System. Next, complete an application for movement in DPS by uploading a copy of orders along with DD Form 1299 and DD Form 1797.

After submission of the application, please visit TMO and finalize your request. Please note, retiring or separating personnel may bypass www.move.mil and visit an office with orders in hand.

It is important to note that in addition to JBA TMO, members may utilize any of the following locations:

  • Aberdeen Proving Ground

  • Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall

  • Quantico

  • Fort Belvior

  • Fort Detrick

  • Forest Glen Annex

  • Fort Lee

  • Fort Meade

  • Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling

  • Navy Supply Systems Command

  • Bethesda

  • Navy Information Operations Command - Sugar Grove

  • U.S. Coast Guard Baltimore

  • U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters - Washington, D.C.
