11th Wing command change

By Airman 1st Class Philip Bryant 11th Wing Public Affairs

Col. John Teichert assumed command of the 11th Wing and Joint Base Andrews from Col. Bradley Hoagland during a change of command ceremony held on the Ceremonial Lawn at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C., July 12, 2016.

Maj. Gen. Darryl Burke, Air Force District of Washington commander, presided over the ceremony and transferred the 11th WG guidon from Hoagland to Teichert.

"The 11th WG is remarkable because of the great work done by our Airmen and our Joint Base Andrews partners who are America's Airmen," said Teichert. "The Airmen of the 11th WG have demonstrated an amazing ability to serve and represent this wing, Joint Base Andrews, the United States Air Force, and our great nation."

Teichert is now responsible for approximately 2,500 Airmen, DOD civilians and contractors in the 11th WG. He will also serve as installation commander to JBA; home to two higher headquarters, six wings, more than 80 tenant organizations and an estimated 17,000 personnel.

"I think [Teichert] is going to be a wonderful addition to Team AFDW" said Burke. "He has the right background, leadership experience, and enthusiasm for this new opportunity."

Teichert was previously the DOD Special Access Program Central Office deputy director at the Pentagon.
