Transition Assistance Program

The Transition GPS Program (TGPS) was created to meet the needs of separating service members during their period of transition into civilian life by offering job-search assistance and related services.

TGPS insures every member separating or retiring receives their congressionally mandated Pre-Separation Counseling/completion of DD2648 Checklist. This required briefing MUST be conducted within a minimum of 90 days prior to member's date of separation or retirement. Retirees can receive this briefing 2 years from their DOR and separating members can receive one year from their DOS. Other mandatory Transistion components members must complete are a 5 day TAP workshop, a 6 hour VA Benefits I&II briefing and completion of DD 2958, Capstone.

  • The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is available to review member's medical records and assist with the BDD/Pre-Discharge Disability claim process twice a week at JB Andrews' M&FSC.
