The 11th Security Forces Group along with the 11th Medical Group are scheduled to host multiple events in the National Capital Region in honor of Women’s History Month throughout March.

Since March 1987, WHM has paid tribute to the outstanding accomplishments made by women.

“These events will be very educational to all, not just the women of the NCR,” said Tech. Sgt. Shandralekha Carlos, 11th Security Support Squadron installation security section NCO in charge. “Our vision for these events is growth, knowledge and remembrance of those hard- powering and driven women who paved the way for women leaders today to succeed.”

Multiple WHM informational exhibits will be displayed around JBA and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling starting March 9. The exhibits will display balloons that have facts about women who’ve made significant contributions throughout history.

A free live performance of Kate Campbell Stevenson’s “Women: Back to the Future” is scheduled for March 16 at 9 a.m. at the base theater here. The show will tell stories of women who’ve overcome challenging circumstances in history with creative solutions.

“Being a man raised by a majority of female figures gives me a special appreciation for remembering those [women] who broke barriers and made better lives possible for our nation,” said Tech. Sgt. Christopher Carter, 11th Medical Squadron dental laboratory NCO in charge on JBAB.

A WHM women’s panel is scheduled to be held at The Commons on JBA, March 23 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. The panel will comprise current and past female military members who will discuss how obstacles were made into triumphs, along with a Q&A session for attendees.

Lastly, a Women’s History Month luncheon is scheduled for March 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Joint Base Andrews Club.
