JBA reducing golf course to 45 holes

11th WIng Public Affairs

The Courses at Andrews is scheduled to reduce from 54 to 45 holes beginning November 2018.

Holes 4, 5 and 6 of the West Course and holes 5, 6 and 7 of the East Course will be closed due to construction associated with the Presidential Aircraft Recapitalization Project. Some holes will also be rerouted.

“To facilitate the new layout, the Air Force will add additional irrigation lines, sod to new fairways, several new tee boxes, and cart path adjustments,” said Michael Thomas, the golf courses’ manager. “We hope to have a blueprint or artist rendering on display in August. We will periodically update golfers with information on any course play or temporary interruptions.”

Congress has approved funding and replacement of aging presidential aircraft. The Presidential Aircraft Recapitalization Program involves the construction of a new hanger and support facilities. It was determined the best site for the new hangar complex will be located near the golf course boundaries.

Construction on the new facilities are scheduled to begin early 2019.
