Medicare and TRICARE for Life Seminar at JBA Theater – Sept. 21, 2018

By Kathleen Tyler 11th Medical Group

JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. -- Find out about Medicare benefits and eligibility for the TRICARE For Life health plan by attending a Medicare and TRICARE for Life information briefing Sept. 21, from 10-noon, at the base theater.

Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people who are age 65 or older, under age 65 with certain disabilities, and those with end-stage renal disease, Lou Gehrig's disease, or certain cases of mesothelioma.

TRICARE For Life is health care coverage for TRICARE beneficiaries that can be used with Medicare benefits. Members are eligible for TRICARE For Life if they have Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B, regardless of age or residence. Once someone has both Medicare Parts A and B, they are automatically eligible for TRICARE For Life.

TRICARE and Medicare cover many medical services. Understanding how the two work together to help pay health care costs can be confusing. The Medicare briefing will help people understand how to use TRICARE For Life with Medicare and what they need to do to keep their TRICARE coverage.

For more information about the Medicare briefing or to speak with the 11th Medical Group TRICARE Beneficiary Counseling and Assistance Coordinator, call 240-612-2202.
