JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
Stephen A. Hubbard Jr. assumed command of the 316th Security Support Squadron from Lt. Col. David R. Herndon during a change of command ceremony here, Aug. 7, 2020.
Col. Ian M. Dinesen, 316th Security Forces Group commander, presided over the ceremony to activate the transition. He then transferred command from Herndon to Hubbard Jr.
“Thank you for this opportunity,” said Hubbard Jr. “It is an exceptionally rare privilege to lead a security forces unit, especially as a civilian.”
Herndon is heading onward to Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, where he will serve as 28th Security Forces Squadron commander.
Herndon commanded the 316th SSPTS from 2019 to 2020. During this period, he led presidential and installation military working dog operations, provided visitor control and base access oversight, and directed defense risk planning.
