JBA honors National Police Week

By 316th Wing Public Affairs

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as National Police Week.

During Police Week, Joint Base Andrews held multiple events to honor past and present law enforcement officers, as well as those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

These included a 24-hour vigil, 5k Memorial Ruck, different sporting tournaments such as golf and softball, and an excellence in shooting competition. Those who scored in the top 10% were awarded an Excellence in Competition medal.
