Best of the best named in AFDW

Air Force District of Washington Airmen gathered to recognize the best of the best from AFDW units. Winners were announced at the 2011 AFDW Annual Awards banquet March 23 at the Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling Club.

Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Marquis A.T. Smith, 11th Comptroller Squadron

Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Kevin M. Maloney, 11th Security Forces Squadron

Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Senior Master Sgt. David W. Wilson, 11th Civil Engineering Squadron

Company Grade Officer of the Year: Capt. Joseph M. Walters, 1st Helicopter Squadron

Civilian Category I of the Year: Vincent L. Johnson III, 11th Contracting Squadron

Civilian Category II of the Year: Stanley L. Lawrence, 11th Civil Engineering Squadron

Civilian Category III of the Year: Jason R. Haddock, 11th Civil Engineering Squadron

First Sergeant of the Year: Master Sgt. Demetrica L. Jefferis, 779th Medical Operations Squadron

Military Volunteer of the Year: Airman 1st Class Peter J. Stambouli, AFDW Strategic Plans and Programs (A8)

Civilian Volunteer of the Year: Judy L. Gibson, AFDW Plans and Requirements (A5)

One of the U.S. Air Force's five direct reporting units, AFDW is the single Air Force voice for planning and implementing Air Force and joint solutions within the National Capital Region. The command organizes, trains, equips and provides forces for Air and Space Expeditionary Force deployment, homeland operations and ceremonial support within the NCR and worldwide.
