LEED shows how Team Andrews leads the way in green building design

By Myra Sinnott Resource Efficiency Manager

As Team Andrews participates in Energy Action Month this October, members have the opportunity to observe two of the Air Force's newest and greenest buildings right here on base.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design tours of the William A. Jones III Building and Jacob E. Smart Building here are designed to show how their environmentally-friendly features helped them achieve LEED Gold status.

LEED is a third-party program that certifies that a building conserves energy and water, reduces waste, provides a safer and healthier atmosphere for occupants, and lowers
operating costs.

Tours are scheduled for:
Jones Building - Oct.18 at 12 p.m.
Smart Building - Oct. 29 at 11a.m.

Each tour will last approximately 45 minutes and are open to all base occupants on a first-come, first-served basis, with a maximum of 12 people per tour.

All ages are welcome, but children must be accompanied. Please RSVP by calling 240-612-6236 by 5 p.m. Oct. 17 for the Oct. 18 Jones building tour; and 5 p.m. Oct. 26 for the Oct. 29 Smart building tour.
