AFDW hopes to give big to CFC 2012

By Senior Airman Tabitha N. Haynes Air Force District of Washington Public Affairs

Air Force District of Washington and its subordinate units raised $416,037 during the 2011 Combined Federal campaign, according to Capt. Chase Eiserman, AFDW CFC Project Officer. The command reached 119 percent of its goal during last year's campaign - and this year AFDW hopes to contribute more.

"AFDW's generosity showed off big time last year with the highest cumulative donation in more than 10 years," Eiserman said. "We look forward to meeting and exceeding that same generosity this year."

This year's theme for the CFC is "Hope is the greatest gift of all."

The command will officially hold the 2012 CFC campaign Oct. 1 through Nov. 9. AFDW members will set out to exceed the goal of raising more than $348,000.

"The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all," according to the Office of Personnel Management.

Millions of dollars are raised each year according to the OPM.

CFC key workers will begin contacting Headquarters AFDW, 11th Wing, 79th Medical Wing, 844th Communications Group, and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling element personnel to donate. Everyone can donate.

There will be a fun run Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. on Joint Base Andrews to kick off the campaign. Participants should gather at the Military Personnel Flight track. Non-participants are welcome to come and check out the charities as well.

CFC is the world's largest annual workplace charity campaign. CFC administrators and volunteers reach potential donors through more than 200 local organizations, and givers may contribute via cash, check, or payroll deduction. Pledge forms are available through unit coordinators.
