11 CPTS finance office hours to change

By Airman 1st Class Lindsey A. Beadle 11th Wing Public Affairs

Military and civilian service members who use the 11th Comptroller Squadron as their finance office are in for a change. Come Apr. 1, the office's hours of operation and the way the office files financial documents will be modified - potentially effecting more than 65,000 personnel within the National Capital Region who utilize the office's services.

The office's new operating hours are as follows: the customer service counter will now be open Mon. - Fri. from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. and walk-in hours are also now Mon. - Fri. from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. All time after 12 p.m. is now blocked off for scheduled appointment holders only. However, customers may still schedule appointments until 3 p.m. daily.

"In today's age, the financial field is leaning toward a more electronic medium of mission accomplishment," said Staff Sgt. Andrew Morrow, 11 CPTS finance technician. "In order for the Andrews finance office to better shy away from paper use, we need to keep up with electronic demand and adapt ourselves and our customers to these changing times. Having new office hours is the first of many steps we'll take to better acclimate our customers and accomplish our mission."

Personnel who schedule appointments should expect to have their meetings scheduled between 12 and 2 p.m. Appointment slots are available every 30 minutes at this time, with a total of 12 appointments being scheduled each day.

Additionally, these appointments can be fulfilled through either e-mail, face-to-face or over-the-phone consultations during the customer's allotted appointment time.

"The 11 CPTS is dedicated to excellent customer service," said Lt. Col. Irma Brussow, 11 CPTS commander. "This is our number one priority. Any way and any time we can improve our service to the customers in the NCR, we will take action."

Currently, there are no changes to the customer service phone/e-mail team's hours of operation. Their hours will remain Mon. - Fri. from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. (except on Tues. when the office closes early for training).

"I think after time, finance customers will get comfortable with the change in 11 CPTS operating hours," said Morrow. "Individuals that come into our office with appointments can expect to be seen and get the help they need. They will see all the steps of the document process in front of their eyes. In this way, we believe that they will be more satisfied knowing their documents are not just going to the bottom of a pile."

Additionally, the 11 CPTS would like all of its customers to be aware of a new website they may utilize which can make their visit to the finance office that much easier. Personnel can access event schedules, duty hours, briefings and various financial forms at the following web address: https://afdw.afncr.af.mil/org/11_WG/11_CPTS/default.aspx.

"We are looking for ways to make the customer's time at the finance office less of a burden," said Brussow. "By changing our office hours and offering personalized appointments, we'll be able to give customers undivided attention to their issues."
