Andrews Officer Spouses Club scholarship
All eligible college-bound high school seniors, current undergraduate college students and military spouses are encouraged to apply for scholarships funded through Andrews Thrift Shop sales and other AOSC philanthropic activities. This program is intended for dependents of Joint Forces Personnel stationed or retired from Joint Base Andrews or dependents of active duty, retired or deceased military members residing in the National Capital Region. The minimum scholarship awarded is $1500 and must be used for the 2012-2013 academic year. The scholarship application includes all eligibility criteria and may be obtained at www.andrewsosconline.com or by contacting the AOSC Scholarship Chair at aoscscholarships@gmail.com. All applications are due no later than April 15.

Tax Center to close soon
Only a few weeks remain before this year's tax filing deadline. The volunteers of the Andrews Tax Center are available to help active-duty members, retirees and other clients who are eligible for legal assistance, prepare and file their federal and state tax returns. The Tax Center can assist with 1040s, 1040EZs, Schedules A, B, EIC, and R, along with myriad other forms and worksheets. The Tax Center is located in Room 2550 of the William A. Jones III Building. Golf Tournament
The National Capital Area Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will be hosting its 2nd Annual Golf Tournament at the Courses at Andrews on May 23. No Heat, No Cool
As the winter months wind down and the warm summer temperatures approach, the 11th Civil Engineer Squadron will shut down heating systems and bring air conditioning systems on line. This transition is slated to begin March 26, with a target completion date of April 26.
During this time, there will be no heating or air conditioning in the on-base dormitories in order to ensure all systems are thoroughly inspected and in working order. Mission critical facilities, Child Development Centers, critical server rooms and switch gears will be exempt. The 11 CES thanks Team Andrews members for their patience and cooperation while this transition is accomplished. For more information, contact the 11 CES Customer Service Center at 301-981-5151.

Women's History Month Celebration
A Women's History Month Celebration is slated to take place at 11:30 March 25 during the Joint Base Andrews Gospel Service at Chapel 1 here. The theme of the event is "Women's Education-Women's Empowerment." Guest speaker Rev. Juanita Davis will speak during the event. There will also be a free dinner immediately following the service. 11th Wing Civilian Awards Ceremony
An 11th Wing Civilian Awards Ceremony is slated to take place 10a.m March 26 at the Base Theater. This ceremony will recognize all those who have earned length-of-service certificates for their service to the US Government from Jan. - June 2012. Certificates will also be presented to some who were missed from March 2011 - Jan. 2012. A separate email will be sent to each squadron with a list of those who will be recognized. Additionally, Civilian Developmental Education opportunities will be briefed following the awards ceremony. This awards ceremony is mandatory for all civilians unless supervisors approve exceptions based on mission requirements.

TSA traveler program
On March 20, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) expanded their trusted traveler program known as Pre✓™ to service members who are flying out of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Service members, active-drilling Reservists, National Guardsmen and members of the Coast Guard, who present a valid Common Access Card (CAC) at security checkpoints will receive expedited security screening. To participate, members must go to the TSA Pre✓™ lane at the security checkpoint in terminal B (gates 10-22) and present their CAC to a TSA officer who will scan the card to verify their status as an active service member. Once verified, members will not be required to remove their shoes, outerwear, belts, laptops or any small liquid containers from carry-ons when going through security.

Andrews Career Fair
The Club at Andrews is slated to host a career fair on March 28 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Come dressed in business attire and have several copies of your resume with you. There will also be a Group Resume Session at 9:30 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m. in the Hangar One Lounge. For more details, call the club at 301-568-3100.
