Master Sgt. Michael A. Vanderpool

Current Duty Title: Facility Manager, Headquarters Air Force District of
Washington

Why are they being recognized?
Master Sgt. Michael A. Vanderpool maintained the $20 million AFDW command and control complex with all systems being 100 percent operational.

He supervised renovation of building 1535's new AFDW IGI office saving more than
$10,000 in contracts.

Sergeant Vanderpool implemented the facility snow removal program which overcame
several snow/ice events therefore maintaining key facility accessibility.

He also organized the shelter in place plan from scratch, educated and trained
more than 800 personnel resulting in improved safety for real world disaster
response.

Lastly, Sergeant Vanderpool developed a security plan for AFDW, increasing
security by 90 percent, and ensuring safety of wing leadership.
