Boil Water Advisory for Prince George's County has been lifted

11th Wing Public Affairs

The Boil Water Advisory for Prince George's County was lifted today, Jan. 27, by the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission. Water testing conducted Tuesday and Wednesday revealed no signs of harmful bacteria and tested negative for contamination.

Though the advisory has been lifted, precautionary measures are advised prior to tap water usage.

It is suggested that cold water taps be ran for five minutes starting from highest floor in the household, and moving to lowest floor and faucets turned off in reverse order (ground floor then highest floor). Also refrigerator lines should be flushed and the first three batches of ice upon starting the ice maker up today should be thrown out. Ice maker containers should be wiped out with a bleach solution, two tablespoons bleach per gal of water.
