11th Wing Safety Office - Please Drive Safe this Holiday Season

Since 1990, the Air Force has lost 193 Airmen due to mishaps during the mid-November to early January time-frame, an average of nine Airmen per year.

The majority of these Airmen were lost in private motor vehicle mishaps, often traveling to visit family and friends during the holiday season. The Thanksgiving holiday will be a long weekend for many personnel and requires planning and diligence.

If you are heading out on a trip, no matter if it is 25 miles or several hundred miles, make sure you have planned your trip, checked the weather, and made allowances accordingly for any traffic delays. If you are delayed, notify your supervisor versus over-extending yourself and rushing back.
