MGMC ups PHA medical staff; doubles patients seen

By Staff Sgt. Renae Kleckner 79th Medical Wing photographer

The 779th Medical Group recently hired seven civilian health care professionals to increase the capabilities of Malcolm Grow Medical Center as well as aide Airman across the National Capital Region in completing their Physical Health Assessments as part of deployment readiness.

Even in the beginning stages, the clinic has been able to more than double the amount of patients seen every day from 48 to 112. The clinic even has a mobile unit that teams up with the 779th Medical Support Squadron laboratory to travel throughout the NCR accomplishing PHAs. They have traveled to locations such as Ft. George G. Meade, Md., and the DiLorenzo Clinic in the Pentagon.

The hired medical group members include licensed nurse practitioners, administrative technicians and a program manager.

The staffing comes after an AFSO21 initiative integrating Air Force and civilian forces to help Airman at a geographical disadvantage complete PHA appointments. Now, every Airman, despite location, can be seen by the Operational Medicine Clinic.
