89th announces new command chief

By Master Sgt. J.C. Woodring 89th Airlift Wing Public Affairs

A new command chief will join Team Andrews in January when Chief Master Sgt. Richard A. Brackett fills the role for the 89th Airlift Wing, officials announced Nov. 25.

Since June 2008, Chief Brackett has served as the command chief for Air Education and Training Command's 14th Flying Training Wing at Columbus Air Force Base, Miss. He enlisted in October 1985, and his background includes working as a crew chief on the RF-4C Phantom II, and as a flight engineer on both the C-5 Galaxy and KC-10 Extender.

Before his current position, the chief was the superintendent of the 32nd Refueling Squadron and 305th Operations Group at McGuire AFB, N.J. He also deployed for six months to Southwest Asia as the 380th Expeditionary Operations Group superintendent.

Chief Brackett's awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Air Medal and the Aerial Achievement Medal with one silver and two oak leaf clusters.

The chief replaces Chief Master Sgt. Bob Sealey, who left last month to be the command chief for the 21st Space Wing at Peterson AFB, Colo.
