Appreciation Day provides retirees with information, flu shots

By Col. Paul R. Ackerley 316th Wing commander

On Saturday, Andrews AFB hosted the annual Retiree Appreciation Day. Again, this was another great event in support of our retirees.

I wanted to personally thank 1st Lt. Matt Finnegan, 1st Helicopter Squadron; 1st Lt. Ricky Hopkins, 1st Helicopter Squadron; and Capt. Edward Kelly, 79th Medical Group for their leadership as project officers.

Their work with Senior Master Sgt. (Ret.) John Neves, Director, Andrews AFB Retiree Activities Office, ensured the success of our annual Retiree Appreciation Day.

I also want to thank the medical professionals from the 79th Medical Group who hosted a retiree health screening. Our retirees were able to receive their flu shots, get their eyes checked, have their blood pressure screened, and receive informational updates on health programs, TRICARE and Malcolm Grow Medical Center. Thanks also to the Andrews AFB Club staff and our comm. professionals for their support.

During the program I also recognized and thanked Senior Master Sgt. (Ret.) John Neves for his service to our retiree population. John's last official duty as Director, Andrews AFB Retirees Activities Office was the Retiree Day.

John has decided to retire for the third time. Including his career in the Air Force, time with the Department of the Army, and his time with the Bolling AFB and Andrews AFB Retiree Offices, John served his nation for 57 years.

John we thank you for your service to our nation and our retirees.
