316th Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Airmen earn Army Commendations

Two Airmen from the 316th Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight received Army Commendation Medals for their service while deployed.

Senior Airmen Tristan Brubacher and Delbert Guile were assigned to the 332nd Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight between Jan. 1 and June 25, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Airman Brubacher effectively contributed to the recovery and destruction of more than 250 pieces of ordnance and bulk explosive charges and responded to 72 improvised explosive devices and post blast analysis incidents. He also intercepted insurgents planned use of 3,500 pounds of explosives in roadside bombs.

Airman Guile executed his duties on more than 40 route clearance missions protecting vital supply routes. On one such occasion his robotic skills were put to the test when an IED consisting of a 100 pound incendiary bomb was blocking Route Dover.
