Gen. Lichte visits 89 AW

By Capt. Herb McConnell 89th Airlift Wing Public Affairs

Gen. Arthur J. Lichte, the commander of Air Mobility Command, visited the 89th Airlift Wing from Sept. 28-Oct. 1. The 89 AW was one of the first wings the general visited since accepting command earlier in September.

The visit started off with a wing mission brief presented by Brig. Gen. Margaret H. Woodward, 89 AW commander, and continued with a tour of the wing. General Lichte toured the new Executive Airlift Training Center facilities where he was briefed on the Special Airlift Program and Silver Bullet missions then he went on to the Squadron Operations building and 89th Maintenance Group facilities. Other highlights during the day were the Flying Crew Chief facility and an awards ceremony.

On Monday the visit continued with a working breakfast that was held to discuss group commander issues and Air Force Smart Operations. The General finished up his visit with a Presidential Airlift Group immersion.

"We were honored with Gen. Lichte's visit and I know the men and women of the 89th appreciate his comments about the absolute importance of our mission and the perfection with which we execute it," said General Woodward.
