ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE, Md. –
The 89th Airlift Wing Maintenance Group and Aerial Port Squadron received the highest possible score of outstanding on the Logistics Standardization Evaluation Program Inspection conducted here from July 17 to 23.
"The frequency of LSEP inspections is based on the desire of the Major Command with the last one conducted on the 89 AW recorded in 2005. The inspectors, who were from the logistics directorate at Air Mobility Command, evaluated the group and squadron's ability to perform their mission in order to ensure accordance with Air Force and AMC policy and directives," said Lt. Col. Henry P. Pandes, 89th Maintenance Group deputy commander.
Although the actual inspection grade was given to the 89 AW, MXG and Aerial Port Squadron, DynCorp professionals performed key functions which were a part of the processes being evaluated.
"The 89 MXG contracting officer and DynCorp representatives were professional and motivated. COR personnel were proactive in identifying safety concerns that could have led to damaged equipment and injury to personnel. Unit pride and a professional image were displayed throughout the group. In addition, 89 MXG complexes were exceptionally clean and well maintained in the hangars and DynCorp backshops," said Colonel Pandes.
As a result of all of the hard work, personnel passed 104 out of 106 evaluations for a 98 percent success rate. A 95 percent is the minimum needed for an outstanding assessment.
"The 89 AW/APS/MXG exceeded the standards with zero detected safety and technical data violations and unsatisfactory condition reports," said Col. David C. Geuting, Airlift Support Group commander.
During the same period, the wing was also undergoing a Unit Compliance Inspection.
