Excellent! 89 AW passes UCI with flying colors

By Senior Airman Edward Drescher 89th Airlift Wing Public Affairs

The 89th Airlift Wing is built on Four Universal Truths and according to the chief of the AMC/IG Inspection Division; the SAM FOX team is doing an excellent job living up to those universal truths.

"A top notch performance by the SAM FOX wing," said Col. Stanley Dougherty, whose team was here to grade the 89 AW's Unit Compliance Inspection. "You guys are doing a great job of living up to 'Perfection is the Standard.'"

When the results were released at the UCI outbrief Tuesday, the truth on the 89th Airlift Wing is that it's an "excellent" wing.

Of the 10 areas the 89th was graded on, the wing received an "excellent" grade in seven of them and received no unsatisfactory grades at all.

"It was a very strong excellent," said Colonel Dougherty. "It's nearly impossible to receive an outstanding with the standards we are looking for."

The AMC/IG Team from Scott Air Force Base, arrived here on July 17 and spent a week inspecting the functionals of the 89 AW and the 201st Airlift Squadron.

The inspections are used to make sure each unit is compliant with AMC directives.
Col. James Wolcott, the 89th Operations Group commander, who spoke on behalf of Col. Margaret Woodward, 89th Airlift Wing commander, said it's an honor to have an outside team come in and give us a grade like this.

"It's like we play the Super Bowl everyday; that's what our mission is like," said Colonel Wolcott. "I am very proud of each and every one of you."
