Town hall meeting on education

By Cynthia L. Nunes-Taijeron 316th Mission Support Squadron

Andrews community members are invited to attend an "education focused" town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m., August 9, at the base theater.

Topics for discussion will be geared towards school-aged children in anticipation of the upcoming school year. Families with school-age children, who reside on Andrews as well as off-base but still within Prince George's County, use the Prince George's County Public Schools system.

Team Andrews has invited Dr. John Deasy, the Superintendent of Schools from Prince George's County, to discuss the "State of Prince George's County Public Schools." He will speak on matters concerning recent accomplishments and future goals for students attending Prince George's County public schools.

In addition to the Superintendent of Schools, other representatives from Prince George's County Public Schools will discuss topics such as Special Needs, Maryland School Assessment, High School Assessment, the new Parent Teacher Association model, and home schooling guidelines.

Representatives from Francis T. Evans Elementary School, Stephen Decatur Middle School, and Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. High School will attend the meeting as well.

If you have a concern that you wish to be addressed at the Town Hall Meeting, please contact the School Liaison Officer at 301-981-0057 or e-mail 316MSS.SLO@Andrews.af.mil.
