Club teaches motorcycle safety to all Andrews riders

By Airman 1st Class Andrew Polvino staff writer

The Andrews Air Force Base Motorcycle Club, Chapter 20 of the Green Knights Motorcycle Club, is scheduled to host a general club meeting 1 p.m. Thursday in the safety classroom of building 1535.

The meeting is open to all riders here, regardless of rank or what they ride, said Tech. Sgt. Brian K. McLeod, 316th Logistics Readiness Squadron Deployments NCOIC.
"Although the Green Knights are not the safety police, part of our mission is safety and to promote safety while riding," said Sergeant McLeod.

Motorcycle riders have many different measures to protect themselves when riding.
"If the bike has been stored for the winter or someone hasn't ridden in a while due to deployment, it's a great suggestion to practice with the bike in a parking lot to get reacquainted with the bike," said the Deployments NCOIC. "For protective gear, check it out before wearing it; Make sure the items are still functional and still fit. For bikes, riders can perform a process called "T-CLOCS," which stands for tires and wheels, controls, lights and electronics, oils and lubricants, chassis, and sidestand.

Improper safety actions may lead to accidents and casualties.

The Basic Riders Course and Experienced Riders Course are offered, and are scheduled to be held this year.
