JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
The 11th Wing Chapel staff and Chick-fil-A proved they have what it takes to fill Team Andrews members, both body and spirit, as they worked side-by-side to distribute 500 free meals at Chapel 1, Feb. 17.
Dubbed "Share the Love," the event served several purposes: marking St.Valentine's Day and the coming Lenten Season as well as informing Team Andrews members of the upcoming services and events for all the parishes here.
"We are always looking for a reason to show love at Joint Base Andrews in welcoming, unobtrusive and non-religious ways," said Chaplain (Maj.) Jack Stanley, 11 WG deputy wing chaplain. "Our mission this year is to envision how everything we do will impact and take care of the people inside this fence."
Valentine's Day certainly provided a perfect occasion to show love; however, the event was only a small part of the organization's dedication to offer guidance and support to military members and their families.
"A love-love relationship exists between the chapel and Chick-fil-A," said Stanley. "Chick-fil-A is very supportive of faith based events. They gave us a great discount for the lunches and the chapel donations will take care of the bill."
The chaplains, their assistants and volunteers from the Brandywine Chick-fil-A worked together to fill every bag and distribute them to service members as they drove or walked to the parking lot.
We love serving our military personnel and their families," said Larry Everett, marketing director for the Brandywine Chick-fil-A. "We're excited to be out here today and in the William A. Jones III building providing meals for service members."
