JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
Between May 26 and May 29, Joint Base Andrews will conduct an emergency response exercise. A full base lock-down will occur during the exercise. All personnel must treat the lock-down as if the scenario were real.
Emergency response agencies and dispatch centers from nearby communities were notified of the event by exercise planners.
Residents of surrounding communities and personnel on the base should anticipate the following temporary changes and impacts during the exercise period:
- Increased traffic and delays at base entry gates due to heightened security screenings
- Temporary road closures around the installation to simulate emergency conditions
- Enhanced security measures throughout the base
- Activation of the base’s “Giant Voice” public address system and other alert sirens
- Use of electronic notification systems to disseminate exercise-related information
