Construction begins on JBA Main Gate

By Airman 1st Class J.D. Maidens 11th Wing Public Affairs

Construction to the inbound and outbound lanes of the Joint Base Andrews Main Gate will begin March 7, 2016 until further notice.

Road work will congest the intersection at Robert Bond Drive, where Allentown Road begins off-base.

"The work will help the flow of traffic and reduce the congestion at the intersection by reorganizing lanes coming to and from the Main Gate," said Master Sgt. Christopher Frank, 11th Security Forces Squadron NCO in-charge of police services.

One inbound and outbound lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The West Gate on Allentown Road will be opened during the hours of the lane closures. Commuters are encouraged to use this gate, or an alternate gate.

Work will be paused from March 28 to April 4.
