Youth Center Day Camp splashes into summer

By Senior Airman Mariah Haddenham 11th Wing Public Affairs

Summer Day Camp registration is open now through May 27, for children who have completed Kindergarten to age 12.

Parents are able to sign their children up for the full duration of camp or pick and choose weeks for their children to attend.

"The camp is a great opportunity to give children productive and fun things to do with their peers," said Robin Sheppard, 11th Force Support Squadron Summer Day Camp coordinator. "We get the kids outside and playing, instead of just sitting inside. This also gives some children who come to stay with a military parent over the summer the chance to meet kids their age and make new friends."

Camp includes breakfast, lunch and snacks, with activities like swimming, skating, bowling, and multiple field trips around the National Capital Region.

The Summer Day Camp allots for 204 spots, and averaged an attendance of 192 children per week last summer.

Camp starts June 29 and ends August 21, with the camp day starting at 6 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m.

Sign-up for camp is online at www.andrewsfss.com/youth.

For more information, call the Joint Base Andrews Youth Center at 301-981-5430.
