Warrior of the Week

Staff Sgt. Blakley Powell, 11th Contracting Squadron contracting specialist, is the Warrior of the Week at Joint Base Andrews, Md., for the week of Nov. 17, 2014.

Powell is being recognized for spearheading the procurement of a $2.1 million barrier maintenance contract. His actions ensured critical, physical-force protection for approximately 14,000 personnel.

Powell identified and corrected a contractor's proposal calculation error, saving approximately $350,000 in taxpayer funds.

Powell also took charge of a dormitory contract, valued at $57,000, ensuring more than 500 residents and assets valued in excess of $1 million were secured.

In addition, Powell fostered the upgrade training for two enlisted Airmen by endorsing 26 five-level core tasks, increasing unit acquisition efficiency by 27 percent.
