Balsamo named 'Warrior of the Week'

By Airman 1st Class J.D. Maidens 11th Wing Public Affairs

Staff Sgt. Aaron T. Balsamo, an 11th Security Support Squadron visitor control center clerk, is this week's Warrior of the Week.

He was recognized for ending a failure in restricted area badge production.
After the VCC system used to produce flight line restricted area badges failed, Balsamo came up with an ingenious solution.

Balsamo converted a working, single-use badging system into a multipurpose system capable of creating restricted area badges. This system also synched with an accountability tracker that he devised to ensure complete security with limited wait times.

His primary duties include producing controlled media ID cards, conducting criminal history background checks for visitors requesting access to the installation and producing Entry Authority Lists for events and functions held at JBA.

Balsamo, a father of two, has deployed twice; once to Kyrgyzstan and once to Kuwait.
