JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
Members of the 11th Wing welcomed new leadership during a change-of-command ceremony held at Hangar 3 here July 14.
Col. Brad Hoagland took command of the wing and Joint Base Andrews from the previous commander Col. Bill Knight.
"I look forward to serving with you on this winning team and challenge you to make Joint Base Andrews extraordinary," Hoagland said as he addressed the wing. "We will stay focused on the mission and our readiness, develop and care for our Airmen, and insure that a culture of dignity and mutual respect, discipline, innovation and servant leadership exists at all levels."
As commander of the 11th Wing, Hoagland is responsible for approximately 2,500 Airmen, Department of Defense civilians and contractors. Also, he serves as the installation commander comprised of two higher headquarters, six wings, more than 80 tenant organizations and an estimated 17,000 assigned personnel.
Hoagland was previously the Vice Commander of the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing in Southwest Asia.
"Vince Lombardi, legendary coach of the Green Bay Packers, once said, 'Winning is not a sometime thing, it's an all the time thing. You don't do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time,'" Hoagland said. "As the host unit, we will provide unfaltering support to our Team Andrews brethren, mission partners, civic and community leaders, and their families."
Knight is headed to Headquarters Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. During his parting comments, Knight expressed his gratitude to the 11th Wing and Joint Base Andrews.
"Over the past two years, I've had the privilege of leading the Airmen of 'The Chief's Own', the 11th Wing, at our nation's most visible military base, Joint Base Andrews-Naval Air Facility Washington," Knight said. "Commanding the 11th Wing and Joint Base Andrews has been the highlight of my career; thank you for all that you do for the United States of America."
