2013 CCAF graduates recognized

By Airman 1st Class Nesha Humes 11th Wing Public Affairs

Joint Base Andrews held its semi-annual Community College of the Air Force graduation ceremony Nov. 12, 2013, at the base theater to honor approximately 40 graduates.

Though more than 450 graduates were awarded their degree from CCAF, deployments, permanent changes of station, retirements or separations prevented them from attending.

CCAF awards Associate in Applied Science degrees and certifications to students who successfully complete the program in their designated Air Force specialties.

"Celebrate your certificate because it matters, it's something you have worked for and your family has paid the price for," said Chief Master Sgt. Alton B. Clemmons III, the guest speaker and Chaplain Assistant Air Force Career Field Manager, Office of the Chief of Chaplains, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Clemmons shared his experiences growing up underprivileged, where it was an accomplishment to earn your high school diploma, and a dream amongst his family to attend college. Clemmons commended the graduates on their hard work, the importance of education and said to keep preserving.

The primary purpose of the degree programs is to enhance Air Force readiness of enlisted members and prepare them for increased technological, managerial and leadership responsibilities.

Community College of the Air Force is the only federally chartered degree-granting institution exclusively serving enlisted personnel. CCAF provides opportunities for personal and professional growth afforded by degree programs relevant to the role of the non-commissioned officer.
