JBA celebrates Veteran's Day

By Senior Airman Lauren Main 11th Wing Public Affairs

The 89th Airlift Wing held a special reveille ceremony in honor of Veteran's Day, Nov. 8. More than 175 members from the wing gathered in formation and saluted as the flag was raised.

"We owe a debt to our veterans we can never truly repay," said Col. David Almand, 89th Airlift Wing commander. "America rose greatness on their shoulders. We owe them our very way of life, our freedom to live, work and raise our families as we please. So to all veterans, thank you for your sacrifices and for your service."

Various agencies here also plan to celebrate the holiday and pay homage to the men and women who have served our country throughout the years.

Other celebrations include an event being hosted by the library today from 2 to 3:30 p.m. According to Cheryl Gritton, library director, the event is a social gathering where veterans can gather and share their stories with one another, as well as younger active duty service members. There will be cookies and coffee for attendees.

The 11th Force Support Squadron will host a Veteran's Day celebration at Freedom Hall Dining Facility. The Veteran's Day meal will begin at 10 a.m. and commence at 12 p.m. on Nov. 11.
