Warrior of the Week

By Ms. Amber Russell 11th Wing Public Affairs

Staff Sgt. Ryan Midgett, 11th Logistic Readiness Squadron non-commissioned officer in charge of support agreements for military units and various government agencies, is this week's Warrior of the Week.

"Sergeant Midgett takes initiative to lead and makes sure the office runs smoothly by finding new and better ways to accomplish our mission," Tech. Sgt. Shelica Jackson, 11th LRS NCOIC of logistics plans said.

Midgett is being recognized for recent effort he has put forth supporting the 11th Wing.

He coordinated an 11th Wing staff assistance visit (SAV) on Aug. 26, 2013, to assist the 70th Intelligence Wing, Fort Meade, Md., with an upcoming compliance inspection. In support of the SAV, he secured transportation for six team members and ensured their accurate credential information was supplied to the 70th IW Inspector General team to guarantee access into the National Security Agency compound.

Additionally, Midgett worked with the IG and performed inspections on 127 checklist items covering three wing programs and provided feedback to the 70th IW for process improvement.

"I come to work to do my job to the best of my abilities," Midgett said. "I'm very humbled I was selected for Warrior of the Week."

Prior to providing notable support to the 11th Wing, Midgett served the Air Force as a bomb loader. In 2009, he cross-trained into the logistics career field on a humanitarian assignment here, to be close to an ill family member.

The Frederick, Md., native said he joined the U.S. Air Force in Feb. 2004 to travel and earn a steady paycheck.

Midgett accomplished these goals while defending the nation on three deployments. He served at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait and twice at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam.

Along the way, he earned his Community College of the Air Force degree in Aircraft Armament System and said he is just a course shy of receiving his CCAF in his current career field. Additionally, he is studying to become a technical sergeant.

Off-duty, he said he enjoys spending quality time with his family, reading and watching football.
