Team Andrews honors POW/MIA Remembrance Day

By Airman 1st Class Nesha Humes 11th Wing Public Affairs

Team Andrews members came together today to honor service members who were taken as prisoners of war or who were missing in action by running a POW/MIA flag non-stop for 24 hours.

The vigil was completed when members of the National Capital Region chapter of The Green Knights escorted the flag to the Air Force Sergeants Association headquarters building in Suitland, Md., where former POW and retired Col. Norman McDaniel provided inspiring words to attendees.

National POW/MIA Remembrance Day is observed across the nation on the third Friday of September each year in honor of those who were prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action.
