Warrior of the Week

By Airman 1st Class Joshua R. M. Dewberry 11th Wing Public Affairs

Nicholas Halloran, 811th Operations Group contract officer technical representative, is this week's Warrior of the Week.

The Charles County, Md., native and a former United States Marine, has deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. He served his country as an aircraft mechanic before seperating from the military and joining the civilian workforce.

On Sept. 12, 2013 while performing a follow-up Basic Post Flight Inspection on an aircraft, Halloran identified a safety hazard pertaining to the co-pilot's access to the fire extinguisher.

"In certain seat positions, the co-pilot's seat frame blocks the fire extinguisher-access latch mechanism," said Halloran. "This results in the co-pilot or other crew members not being able to remove the fire extinguisher if needed."

This safety hazard affected 13 aircraft. As a result, modifications to the entire Air Force UH-1N helicopter fleet are being made to correct the situation.

Halloran holds a bachelor's degree in communications studies. When away from work, he spends time with his wife and three children.

Congratulations to this week's Warrior.
