Thought 1:
After the Detroit Red Wings manhandled the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 5, most hockey observers outside Pennsylvania declared the series done. The Penguins fought back and won a gritty Game 6, sending the series to a Game 7 for this game. The Penguins are a hungry team with momentum now on their side. Is that enough? The Red Wings have plenty going for them tonight. They're deeper, more talented, more experienced, and, what may be most important, they're playing at home. This has been the best Stanley Cup final the NHL has seen in almost a decade (I'll give the nod to Colorado Avalanche vs. New Jersey Devils in 2001). Tune in and enjoy.
Thought 2:
Saying Cleveland Indians manager Eric Wedge is having a tough start to the season is about as big an understatement as saying Terrell Owens sort of likes to see his name in the news. Wedge's star center fielder, Grady Sizemore (my preseason AL MVP pick ... yikes), is currently on the disabled list with an undisclosed elbow injury that may require surgery. Travis Hafner's injuries have followed him into yet another season and Carl Pavano currently leads the team in wins. Isn't this the same team who was one win away from making the 2007 World Series? Wedge needs to look on the bright side and realize things could be worse. He could be the movie executive that thought "Land of the Lost" would be a good use of $100 million dollars.

So let me get this straight, Brett Favre has gotten the itch to play again, and would like to stick it to the Packers? That leaves only two possible explanations - The first is that Doc Brown threw me in the back of his DeLorean and took me back to August 2008. The second is that Brett Favre really can't move on with his life. Unfortunately, it's door number two. He was one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game, but each day this drama goes on, more people sour on him. There's playing for love of the game and then there's what Favre is doing.

The Washington Nationals drafted pitching phenom Stephen Strasburg with the first overall pick of the MLB draft Tuesday. Sure, they should be given some credit for ignoring the pundits screaming about the high bust rate of pitchers taken first overall, but now is the hard part. The Nationals need to sign this kid. This team is struggling to stay afloat and is on its way to having the first overall pick next year as well. Strasburg is a once in a decade talent that can help put the Nationals back on the map, but he can't do that if the team doesn't get him to sign on the dotted line.
