Joint Base Andrews, Maryland –
A city needs certain jobs to make sure it can operate. Fire fighters, maintenance crews and personalist are just a few.
And just like a city, here at Joint Base Andrews these jobs and more are tasked to the 11th Mission Support Group to keep JBA operating.
"The mission of the MSG is to provide installation and combat support to total force, joint and inter-agency customers and to successfully execute National Capital Region, worldwide and combatant commanders missions," said Col. Bill Kale, 11th MSG commander.
The group executes this mission by using their five squadrons and roughly 1,500 Airmen and civilian employees.
The squadrons include the 11th Civil Engineer Squadron, 11th Logistics Readiness Squadron, 11th Contracting Squadron, 11th Force Support Squadron and the 811th Force Support Squadron.
These squadrons' missions range from maintaining buildings and roadways, working on vehicles to transporting people, keeping track of records and providing lodging and setting up contracts.
But all perform their mission to make sure others in the 11th Wing, partner wings and organizations have the support needed to accomplish their mission.
"Our biggest accomplishment is that our customers accomplished their mission," Kale said. "When they succeed, we succeed."
And according to Chief Master Sgt. Steve Nichols, 11th MSG superintendent, Airmen in the MSG take pride in what they do.
"We are truly proud of what we do for the base and what we do for the NCR by providing great support," said Nichols. "We know we are support Airmen and we're proud of it."
