Col. Ken Rizer, 11th Wing/Joint Base Andrews commander, gives a commander's coin of excellence to 11th Bombardment Group members during a dedication of a new conference room in the William A. Jones III Building here on May 19. John Coyle, former B-24 no gunner, Jack Worrle, former B-24 tail gunner, and Mel Engeman, former B-24 pilot, attended the dedication and recieved coins. The new conference room is dedicated to Brig. Gen. LaVerne "Blondie" Saunders, former 11th Bombardment Group commander. Saunders let the "Grey Geese" in the early years of World War II and was one the few pilots to get a bomber into the air during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
