A water buffalo is a 400-gallon steel tank sitting on a trailer that contains safe drinking water obtained from the Joint Base Andrews’ drinking water system. All water buffaloes and drinking water is tested and certified for consumption by the base’s Bioenvironmental Engineering office. This year 25 water buffaloes have been obtained to help ensure JSOH visitors have ready access to drinking water. Last year, many visitors became overheated during the Air Show not realizing that drinking water was readily available in the water buffalos.

Visitors are encouraged to use the water buffalos placed throughout the airfield to get water at the upcoming Joint Service Open House on May 18, 19, and 20.
