1 HS gives former NFL star a lift
Lieutenant Col. Trey Meeks, 1st Helicopter Squadron commander, escorts Herschel Walker, Heisman trophy winner, and 12-year veteran of the National Football League, to a 1st Helicopter Squadron UH-1N helicopter for an orientation flight Wednesday. Mr. Walker spoke to Airmen Thursday at the Community Airmen’s Center about his personal trial with a mental illness and expressed the importance of getting help when needed. Dr. Anderson Rowan from 779th Medical Operations Squadron was on site to inform Airmen of the various resources available to both them and their families for such needs. Mr. Walker is currently the spokesman for the Freedom Care Program, which helps servicemembers cope with combat post traumatic stress disorder, addiction and women’s issues including military sexual trauma.
