Senior Airman Jacob Henley, left, 316th Civil Engineer Squadron power production journeyman, and Airman 1st Class Casey Brown, 316 CES power production apprentice, use “doughnut pullers” to re-string and adjust the distance between doughnuts on the cable aircraft arresting system on the flightline Tuesday morning. Similar to the arresting gear on aircraft carriers, the aircraft arresting system is also used at land-based airfields for expeditionary or emergency use to rapidly decelerate an aircraft as it lands. The systems consist of a cable laid across the aircraft landing area, which is designed to be caught by an aircraft’s tailhook. (U.S. Air Force photo/ Bobby Jones)
