"Every bit of what NORTHCOM does is about defense of our homeland," Sergeant Major Wood said. He charged SNCOs with, among other things, leading the effort to be on the lookout for and ready to respond to dangers in the AFDW area of operations. "We ought to have a culture of preparedness in our nation," he said. "Uniformed service members ought to take the lead. We ought to be leaning forward in the foxhole."
