Chief Master Sgt. Pat Battenberg, Air Force District of Washington command chief, reveals this year’s new energy conservation poster. The poster, from the Department of Energy, was chosen by AFDW leadership to be displayed as a reminder to Joint Base Andrews members to be conservative of energy usage. Andrews member George Lopez, 316th Civil Engineer Squadron mechanical engineering technician, helped develop a strategic plan to reduce energy consumption at Andrews by utilizing the Utility Energy Service Contract mechanism to secure funds for capital improvements to heating and lighting systems, demolish the former steam plants, and implement smart metering and management tools, which in turn helped win Andrews an award for most energy reductions in the Air Force for 2008.
