A Heartfelt Homecoming for Returning Hostages
Maersk Alabama crewmembers greet their family on the Andrews flightline after a flight back from Kenya Thursday. U.S owned and Danish operated Maersk Alabama was boarded by pirates, and the crewmembers taken hostage, eight days prior to their return home to the states. The crewmembers were welcomed by 316th Wing Commander Col. Steven M. Shepro and 316th Protocol. 316th Security Forces Squadron, 316th Wing and 11th Wing (Bolling AFB) Public Affairs and 316th Civil Engineer Squadron, in conjunction with Maersk public relations personnel and U.S. Secret Service, successfully coordinated the safe return of their fellow Americans.
